Quimper whose name means "confluence" in Breton (Kemper) is a reputed city of art and history thanks to its heritage (Cathedral St Corentin, houses of 16-17th century, quays of the Odet neighborhood locmaria etc. ).

Quimper is the capital of the former Cornwall. Quimper already existed in Roman times and is built around its bishopric and around its cathedral, of Breton tradition and wars before connecting with France and religion.

The city was cut in two parts for a very long time, indeed in addition of being the capital of the bishopric of Cornwall, it also was the one of Duchy. The Bishop took the left side of Steir with the cathedral and ordered the construction of the walls, the Duke took the right side and built his castle.
